Hermosa View Elementary is in Hermosa Beach, CA. Our students have weekly library visits where after their short focused library lesson they can search Destiny for library titles, PebbleGo to further their research and interests or just browse the shelves and curated face outs for that “ just right” book. Focus on diverse books by diverse authors. Cultural literacy and mindfulness.
I have curated all library lesson programming for our students that emphasize California State Library Standards but focus on site specific and curriculum aligned needs that include:

Laguna Middle School in San Luis Obispo, CA is the site of my internship connected with the Library Media Technology program at Cuesta College.

Internship goals included collection development, library displays connected to in class learning, working with the day to day student needs and to do site surveys of other district library sites and the instructional media center.
I was involved in teaching library lessons on media literacy, genre lessons and directing students on how to use the Destiny catalog and ETC Portal research databases. Also spent lots of time weeding and curating the space for special collections.

Liberty Elementary in Santa Maria, CA is a TK-6 school at 900 students strong. As the Library Media Assistant I circulated both the student book collection and the textbooks for the entire school.
Implemented library lesson plans for all grade levels when none existed previously. Handled all circulation, weeding and book orders. Wrote and was awarded two grants totaling $6,000.00 to fund new library materials. Utilized Destiny to find gaps in the collection and choose Common Core aligned titles and to support the Accelerated Reader program.
Special projects include Pre-K community outreach story time, RIF book dispersal, curating special collections for newcomer and ELD students.

Carver Elementary School in San Marino, CA is a diverse school in a small community. As part of a three person staff I co-managed a curriculum based library lessons for all 22 weekly class visits. Increased student circulation by 15%, spearheaded a move from outdated desktops to iPads and managed their implementation including training other library staff and volunteers.
Ordered and cataloged books, used MARC records to catalog for site-specific needs. Updated lesson plans for 4th and 5th grade, created engaging displays and managed multiple yearly author visits.

Ivanhoe Elementary School in Silverlake, CA is a top performing elementary school for LAUSD. Ivanhoe was an early adopter of 1:1 technology.
The library was open to classes for break, lunch and scheduled class visits. I worked to create a shared space for the newly implemented laptop technology, small desktop Mac lab and a more traditional library space.
Handled all circulation, change from OPAC to Destiny and cataloging in updated system. Involved in supporting teachers in class instruction with library materials. Stressed the importance of library story time a way to engage the students with new materials. Library book displays, book ordering for site-specific needs and working with staff to support all ELD, resource and special needs students.

Lake Street Primary in Echo Park, CA is a LAUSD small learning community school. Lake Street Primary has Pre-Kindergarten, Kindergarten and First Grade students only.
At Lake Street I updated and implemented library procedures that better served the students and teachers of the unique community. Handled all circulation, OPAC cataloging, ordering new library materials and books plus managed the schoolbook fair.
Story time for each of the 15 scheduled classes weekly and working with teachers and administrators to be a true support to in class learning for all students including ELD and resource and special needs students.
